The Notre Dame Academy Library collection includes over 14,000 items and is housed in two adjacent libraries located near the front entrance of the school. The Lower School Library contains a wide selection of materials to suit a range of reader abilities and interests. Students in preschool through fifth grade visit the library as a class once a week and may visit at other times to select books or work on projects. The Middle School Library holds a variety of titles to meet the interests and reading needs of students in grades six through eight. Middle School students visit the library with their classes on a regular basis to select books, learn about literature, and develop library and research skills. Both libraries are open throughout the school day for students and teachers to check out books as needed.
Policies
Checkout:
Students in Pre-K check out one book at a time, students in grades K-5 are allowed to check out two books, and Middle School students may check out three. Later in the year preschoolers may check out two books and primary students may check out three. Books are checked out for a period of two weeks (primary grades) or three weeks (middle school) but may be renewed if the book has not been requested by another student.
Please make every effort to return books on or before your library day so that you will have the opportunity to check out new books. We do understand that there may be times that, despite your best efforts, a library book just can't be located. In that event, we will permit a student to check out additional books if we receive notification from a parent that a search party has been dispatched. Our goal is to get our books into the hands of our students, so please don't hesitate to call or email with questions or concerns!
Late Fees/Replacement Cost:
Overdue notices are sent home twice a month. Late fees are not charged but families with items more than 6 weeks overdue will be charged a replacement fee if they cannot return the item. If you receive an overdue notice indicating that you owe a replacement fee, please return the notice in an envelope with cash or a check made out to Notre Dame Academy. Please contact the librarian if you believe that you may have been charged in error. Thank you!

Mrs. Maguire
I am very excited to be working in the Notre Dame Academy Library for my third year! I recently earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from St. Catherine University in St. Paul and a School Library Media Specialist teaching license for the state of Minnesota. Prior to entering the St. Kate's program, I received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and taught for six years at a PK-8 independent school in Andover, Massachusetts. When I am not in the library I love to read and discuss books, cook, go for walks, and spend time with my husband and two children. Please contact me with any questions at my school email address.
