I talked with the students about how blessed we are to have books in our homes, whether they are books we own or books we've borrowed from the library. Then we talked about how some children don't get to grow up with plenty of books to read but that we can support organizations like We Give Books to help solve this problem.
The pre-K got to read Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells as part of the Read for the Record program on October 21st. The kindergarteners and first graders enjoyed the story Bad Apple by Edward Hemingway and talked about issues of friendship and bullying related to the story.
After reading the virtual story, we got our hands back on some traditional books to take home. It is wonderful to see the enthusiasm for books and reading as it grows in the NDA students!
