The name that was drawn from a hat to be our first reading star was the fearless Mary Ellen Gross. I recruited three willing fifth graders to choose questions and interview her at the end of last week. I sat quietly (well, I was quiet most of the time. It was such a fun conversation it was hard to not join in!) and took notes while the foursome talked. If you'd like to see what Mrs. Gross had to say, click on over to the Interview with a Reader page. Stay tuned for another interview at the beginning of April!
Thinking that it would be fun to find out a bit more about the reading habits and preferences of the staff at our school, I recruited the fifth grade class to help me kick off a new Library Website feature: Interview with a Reader. During one of our library times, the fifth graders generated a wonderful list of questions that they might like to ask for a "Reader Interview." A number of them also volunteered to help conduct an interview during one of their lunch periods. We also needed staff volunteers to be our interviewees, of course, so I sent an email out to all the staff at NDA asking if they might like to participate. The response was fabulous!
